Within the scope of MEF University “Design and Build!" Studio, the unused corner of the university garden is transformed
into a place where students meet each other, socialize and produce throughout their university lives with the “Bostan” project.
The starting point of the project was the renovation of the old and worn-out garden beds and to give new functions to its surroundings by adding new architectural elements. Along with the given functions, it is aimed that the university students use “Bostan” and its surroundings effectively and create a place for the “Bostan Club” which is responsible for the vegetable garden.
Rising parallel with the sloping ground, the spine combines circulation in the area with different usage potentials. The new structure, consisting of platforms added to the rising spine with the slope and advancing by mimicking the slope, has made the area more accessible and has created an architecture intertwined with the “Bostan” by infiltrating the vegetable beds. The protrusions that act as a member of the spine have transformed into functions such as seating unit, bench, garden, and storage by providing transitions between structure, garden beds, and slope.

MEF Üniversitesi “Tasarla ve Yap!” stüdyosu kapsamında yapılmış olan “Bostan” projesi ile üniversite bahçesinin kullanılmayan köşesini; öğrencilerin birbirleriyle karşılaştıkları, sosyalleştikleri ve üniversite yaşamları boyunca ürettikleri bir mekana dönüştürmek amaçlanmıştır.
Mevcut durumda eskimiş ve yıpranmış olan bostan yataklarının yenilenmesi ve eklenen mimari elemanlar ile çevresine yeni fonksiyonlar kazandırılması projenin başlangıç noktasıydı. Kazandırılacak olan fonksiyonlarla birlikte üniversite öğrencilerinin “Bostan”ı ve çevresini etkin bir şekilde kullanması ve “Bostan” dan sorumlu Bostan Kulübü’nün etkinliklerini yürütebileceği bir mekan oluşturması amaçlanmıştır.
Eğimli zeminle paralel bir şekilde yükselen omurga, alandaki sirkülasyonu farklı kullanım potansiyelleri ile birleştirir. Eğimle birlikte yükselen omurgaya eklenen platformlardan oluşan ve eğimi taklit ederek ilerleyen yeni strüktür, alanı daha ulaşılabilir kılmıştır ve yer yer sebze yataklarına sızarak bostanla iç içe geçen bir mimari oluşturmuştur. Omurganın bir uzvu gibi hareket eden çıkıntılar strüktür, bostan ve eğim arası geçişleri sağlayarak aynı zamanda oturma birimi, tezgah, bostan ve depolama gibi fonksiyonlara dönüşmüştür.
