The outputs of this project were produced during the workshop named "Living with Rising Water" in Atelier Luma.

Worksop Description :
In the wake of a rising global interest for resilient cities and water management issues related to human habitat, and building on “Jean Prouvé, the better days” exhibition, atelier LUMA initiates a masterclass on floodproof and demountable architecture and self construction.
The masterclass will investigate this global concern on a local level in a 6-day Masterclass directed by nigerian architect Kunlé Adeyemi. Under his supervision, 40 international architecture students will work at Parc des Ateliers and on-site in the region on design solutions to inhabit flood-prone areas and adaptability to flood risks.

Project Description :
The main idea of the project is to revive people’s water-related memories and use them as a tool to create dynamic spaces that are dynamic with natural forces. It uses 5 different mythological and popular characters that exist in the region to recreate the memory of people’s water. These ;
-drac; originally a dragon, lives under water and enters the male’s sword, deceiving the women in the city.
-tarasque; it is a mythological character similar to a huge turtle and is believed to have eaten many people in the city at the time. A little girl wears a monster ribbon and makes a deal with her. But the locals can not believe that the monster is a good character and the little girl and tarasque are killed.
-vaccares; The lake in Arles gives the name and lives there.
-melusine; a marine girl believed to exist in most parts of europe.
-flamingo; this animal, which has become a symbol of the city, has created a great memory in the local world, even though it is not a mythological character. Therefore, it is requested to be examined.

  These characters participate by reinterpreting and abstracting the five different areas of the city.
The project is designed to remind people who accept the flood risk or completely deny the flood, what the situation is and remind them of the water. Using the mechanism of Theo Jansen’s wind-driven sculpture, he reinterprets the structure in different orientations and with different joining details.
